Based in Bristol, Bath and Swindon, Cannon provides CCTV, Fire, and Intruder Alarm Security Systems. With the UK’s All IP switch well underway, Cannon was faced with the challenge of upgrading all their customers from the current analogue telephone system to an all-radio solution, to safeguard their connectivity. The changes are happening now and all analogue systems will be completely redundant by 2025. Cannon felt that to minimise the disruption to end-users, Installers, ARCs and suppliers, it was essential to make these changes now.
Cannon decided to work alongside CSL to future-proof their systems and upgrade all their Digital Communicators to MiniAir 2. Upgrading all systems to the MiniAir 2 provided a resilient and affordable option for Cannon’s customers. To avoid disruption to the end-users, Cannon combined the system upgrade with their routine maintenance visits. MiniAir 2 also arrives pre-configured and, due to its size, can be easily installed into any legacy panel, meaning the upgrade is quick and easy. This resulted in over 95% of customers choosing to have their system upgraded.
Another benefit of the upgrade was being able to utilise the ‘My Home Alarm’ App. Cannon found that overall customers were open to the digital solution as it came with seamless and remote control over their systems using this handy end-user app. Ultimately, Cannon’s customers valued the proactive approach the business took in ensuring their connectivity was maintained and reaped the extra benefits expected from a modern alarm system.
“We felt that the necessary changes needed to be made now to safeguard our customer’s connectivity. Working with CSL we were able to upgrade our alarm systems from legacy digital communicators, to the radio-only, MiniAir 2. It has enabled us to future-proof our business ahead of the ‘big switch-off’.”
